About Me
I am a Game Designer with experience in scripting, systems design, level design, quality assurance, and small team management. I earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Game Development at Austin Community College, where I was design lead for the “Dark Echoes” project.
I recently served as QA Lead at Portalarium for "Shroud of the Avatar", the spiritual successor to the Ultima series. Previously I worked at Kalani Games, doing junior scripting and design work for their upcoming licensed “Rube Goldberg” game. At the same company I’ve also done credited QA for the iOS puzzle game”Tiki Gods: Ancient Times.“
I have experience with the Unity3D Game Engine, including JavaScript event scripting, level design, and mechanic design. I've worked in the UDK editor, the Vicious Engine, and a bit with the old Valve Hammer Editor. I'm also proficient with JavaScript and C++, especially in relation to game scripting.
Aside from gaming and game design my interests include writing humor and light fiction, writing and playing pen-and-paper RPG modules, trail running, and reading everything from Sci-Fi to history.
My major projects are listed below. Simply click on the title of a project for more detailed information.

Garrison Seven
This is a short level made for the "Legend of Grimrock" Dungeon Editor. It can be downloaded by clicking on the title above and played through any commercial copy of the "Legend of Grimrock" game.

Volcano Island Rumble
This game was produced in the Unity engine as part of the 2012 "MolyJam" Game Jam.
Gameplay involves pitting Tiki villagers against one another to create a colored headdress combination that can appease the every more angry volcano. I created the GDD for the project and participated in the design work and planning. We had a very limited amount of time, so we had to work quickly and be decisive about what features to pursue. Escape (UDK)
The UDK Editor really lends itself to multiplayer deathmatch maps over linear single-player levels, so I decided to let the player tackle a series of movement and jumping puzzles in any order. Death simply re-spawns the player in a central hub and lets them try again. |

Azeroth to Zork gaming blog
Azeroth to Zork is my personal gaming blog. I review AAA and indie games, breaking down their design to examine which elements succeeded and which did not. I also interview veteran industry designers and writers, discussing their design goals and philosophies.
